Ghostwriter
Yesterday I was speaking to a friend,
and she asked me what a ghostwriter does. This is a pretty straightforward question that I get asked a lot. So, I thought
for my first blog on this, my redesigned site, I would address that question.
It's simple: a ghostwriter writes
for another person. The person who hires the ghostwriter is considered the author. Usually the ghostwriter isn't credited
with the work, although some people do acknowledge the ghostwriter.
Why do people hire ghostwriter? Great
question. There are lots of reasons. Often people have a great book idea but they are too busy to write the book, so they
hire someone else to do the writing. Sometimes a person may have written a book, but they know the writing needs some work.
That person might hire a ghostwriter to polish the text and give it a professional touch. Someone may have started writing
and realized along the way that she couldn't finish the project, so she hires a ghostwriter. There are many answers to
this question, and you can probably think of as many as I can.
So, it's simple: Ghostwriters write for other
people and those who hire the ghost are considered the author. People have great ideas and wonderful stories to tell.
Often, for whatever reason, they can’t write the stories or ideas so they hire a ghostwriter. That’s why my message
is: “I help people become authors.”
